AMBIENT NOISE MEASUREMENTS IN DURRES, ALBANIA
During the period 18 to 21 February, 2020, about 80 single station ambient noise measurements performed in the city of Durres (Albania), with emphasis on heavily affected areas by the 26 November 2019 earthquake (M6.4). The experiment carried out in collaboration of the Institute of Engineering Seismology & Earthquake Engineering, Thessaloniki Greece (ITSAK-EPPO), with the Institute of Geosciences, Energy, Water and Environment, Polytechnic University of Tirana (IGEWE-PUT). From ITSAK-EPPO, Dr. N. Theodoulidis (Research Director), I. Grendas (PhD Student), and from the IGEWE-PUT, Prof. Ll. Duni, Prof. N. Kuka, Prof. Assoc. R. Koçi, Dr. E. Dushi, MSc. Rrezart Bozo and MSc. O. Gjuzi took part in this experiment.
This experiment is aiming at the estimation of soil fundamental period spatial variation within the city of Durres as well as of relative amplification of ground motion from future earthquakes. Results of the experiment, along with additional geophysical & geotechnical prospecting, would contribute to a realistic microzonation map of the Durres city.
